Start with Aurevia

Set up your storefront, explore five distinctive presets and make Aurevia your own. Start with the essentials below, then use the feature guides and settings reference as you customize.

Install and preview

In Shopify Admin, go to Online Store → Themes and upload your theme ZIP as an unpublished theme. Keep a duplicate of your current theme as a backup. Preview the new theme with your products and menus before publishing. Products, collections and orders belong to your store and are separate from theme styling.

First setup

Choose a preset; configure fonts, colors and logo; assign your main and footer menus; connect collections and products; replace sample copy and media; configure shipping, payments, policies and contact details in Shopify. Test the store before inviting customers.

Where settings live

Open Online Store → Themes → Customize (or Edit theme). Theme settings control shared styling and optional features. Choose a template to edit its sections, then select a section or block to see its controls. Use the reference below to look up individual settings.

Replace sample content

Use demo layouts as a starting point. Add your own products, photography, brand story and contact details. Review product descriptions, shipping information and policies before publishing so they accurately describe your business.

Store name and preset name

Your preset controls the design; your Shopify store name controls text logos, footer copyright and store-name metadata. To change your business name, use Settings → General → Store details in Shopify Admin. Review About pages, journal copy, product vendors and search-engine listings separately. Changing the store name does not require changing product handles or your store domain.

All presets share Liquid, JavaScript and styling foundations. Their palettes, compositions and merchandising differ; they are not five separate themes.

Aurevia · Home & Living

Warm mineral neutrals, charcoal and restrained bronze. Build around large interiors, featured collections, furniture, narrative details and lookbook scenes. Prioritize meaningful material and dimension information.

Serein · Beauty

Warm white, rose and taupe with soft editorial typography. Connect best sellers, routine discovery, ingredients and benefit content. Publish only supported product claims and genuine customer testimonials.

Veyra · Fashion

Ivory, near-black and stone. Use campaign imagery, category discovery, collection grids and editorial stories. Configure real size/color variants and native option swatches; the theme does not create variant data.

Orivelle · Jewelry

Champagne, warm ivory, charcoal and gold. Use macro product photography, craftsmanship stories and gift merchandising. Document actual materials and gift-service terms.

Teravo · Lifestyle

Espresso, cream, copper and sand. Pair coffee or artisanal collections with origin stories, brewing articles and gifts. Subscription presentation requires genuine Shopify selling-plan data supplied by a compatible integration.

Changing presets

Back up visual customizations before switching. Listing templates provide preset compositions; changing a settings preset alone should not be assumed to replace every template. Verify the installed composition in the editor. Merchant data is separate from theme settings.

Branding and design settings

Use a small, consistent visual system before styling individual sections.

Colors and schemes

Set page, text, surface, button and button-text colors. Where offered, section color schemes control local presentation. Maintain readable contrast for text, borders, badges and focus states. A custom palette is not automatically accessible.

Typography and layout

Choose supported body, heading and navigation fonts. Adjust heading scale, navigation tracking/case, content width, section spacing, grid gaps, media ratios and available corner styles. Review long headings and translated labels at mobile widths.

Logo and favicon

Set the logo in Header. Under Theme settings → Branding → Favicon, upload a square icon; it is requested at 32 × 32 pixels. Without a selection, the installed demo uses its bundled monogram. Browsers cache icons, so use a private window when checking changes.

Motion and responsive design

Use the motion preference control and respect the shopper’s reduced-motion setting. Test narrow screens, keyboard focus and browser zoom after customization. Do not remove focus indicators to achieve a quieter visual style.

Header, navigation and search

Build navigation from Shopify menus. Theme controls present those destinations; they do not create or validate your business information.

Announcement and header

Configure the announcement text and destination, header logo, layout, sticky behavior and available color controls. Account, cart and search entry points use Shopify routes. Check long store names when no logo is selected.

Desktop mega menu

Assign a menu with nested links. Nested top-level destinations produce disclosure panels. Test pointer entry/leave, click, Enter/Space, Tab and Escape. Closed panels must not block page content.

Menu promotion blocks

In Header add Menu promotion. Choose the exact parent destination URL of a nested top-level menu item, then add a heading and promotion destination; a desktop image is optional. Mobile uses compact links. Unmatched or incomplete promotions are hidden from shoppers. Update assignments when menu URLs change.

Mobile navigation

The drawer supports multi-level links, native dialog behavior, Escape, backdrop closing, focus return and scroll locking. First Escape dismisses active predictive suggestions; the next closes navigation. Desktop resize closes the mobile drawer.

Predictive search

Suggestions progressively enhance a native search form. Shoppers can still submit a query without JavaScript. Results use safe text rendering and guarded URLs; empty/error states keep a path to full search. Search relevance and catalog indexing are managed by Shopify.

Hover mini cart

In Header enable Show cart preview on desktop hover. At desktop widths of 1024px and above, hover or keyboard-focus the cart icon to show up to four items and subtotal. Escape dismisses it. Clicking the icon retains cart/drawer behavior. Smaller and touch layouts retain their normal interaction.

Discount announcement

Each preset starts with an editable brand message and a collection link matching its demo. Open Header → Announcement bar. Add the message, an optional existing discount code, destination link and link label. Set background/text colors if needed and enable the copy button. Create and activate the same code in Shopify Discounts first; the banner displays the code and does not create a discount. Without clipboard support, shoppers can select and copy the visible code.

Back to top

Theme settings → Storefront utilities → Show back-to-top button enables a floating arrow after roughly one screen of scrolling. It returns focus to the start of the page and respects reduced motion. It stays out of the way while the theme privacy banner is open.

Build an editorial homepage

Add and reorder sections through the editor. Connect real resources before judging empty or placeholder states. The section catalog below includes every implemented section and its exact settings.

Hero and story media

Editorial hero supports art-directed images/mobile media, text, links and Shopify video with native controls. Story media offers a full-width narrative or video treatment. Supply useful image alternatives and appropriate video captions. Do not use a mobile crop that hides the product or CTA.

Collections and products

Featured collections can create a grid or mosaic using collection blocks and image/title overrides. Featured products uses selected products or a collection; individual choices take precedence. Product spotlight presents a selected product with editorial and available purchase controls.

Narrative and text

Split narrative pairs photography with story, caption and detail blocks. Editorial text supports rich text and quotations. Use real attribution and permission for quotations. Rich text tables and code have contained scrolling where necessary.

Benefits, logos and testimonials

Editorial columns supports benefits, logo rows and testimonials through its available presets/blocks. Add only merchant-authorized logos, factual benefits and genuine testimonials. The theme does not supply customer review data.

Lookbook and comparison

Image lookbook places product-linked hotspots on a scene. Before/after comparison reveals two supplied images; use honest, comparable images and avoid unsupported results claims. Product comparison presents selected products and authored rows; it does not infer unprovided specifications.

Journal, newsletter and FAQ

Choose a blog for journal cards. Newsletter uses Shopify’s customer form and native feedback. FAQ uses accessible disclosures with authored answers. Avoid unnecessary duplicate newsletter forms; confirm mailing consent and delivery workflow separately.

Collection tabs and dated promotions

Collection tabs groups real collection grids behind accessible manual tabs with a no-JavaScript fallback. A dated promotion uses a fixed merchant-supplied deadline and an ended state; it does not create discounts or reset a deadline for each visitor.

Featured product scale

In Featured products choose two, three or four products per desktop row and one or two per mobile row. Tablet uses up to three. Explicitly selected products take precedence over a collection; choose a varied edit deliberately if a collection’s default order introduces new or sold-out QA examples. Larger cards request appropriately sized responsive images. Other product grids retain their own layout.

Responsive collection and spotlight images

Collection tiles request images for the selected grid or mosaic layout, including the full-width final tile on mobile when the item count is odd. Product spotlights account for the page margins, content-width setting and column gap. Native responsive sources preserve merchant images and focal points. Browsers may reuse a larger cached image shown elsewhere; these hints do not guarantee a fixed download size.

Editorial copy in presets

Presets that include an editorial text section provide editable, original introductory prose. Replace it with your own brand story in the Theme Editor. Demo maintenance fills only matching seeded sections with an empty text setting and preserves existing merchant prose. Demo copy does not assert certifications, customer reviews or product performance.

Product pages and purchasing

Product data comes from Shopify. Product information uses reorderable blocks; available block types and controls appear in the generated section reference.

Product information blocks

Reorder title/vendor, price, SKU/availability, purchase controls, description, text, accordions and supported app blocks. Add ratings through an appropriate app block; the theme does not fabricate reviews. Use supported dynamic sources where Shopify offers the picker.

Gallery

Configure balanced/wide gallery width, image framing and thumbnail position. Thumbnails switch media; images open a zoom dialog with Escape and focus return. Native videos and supported 3D media use their platform controls. With JavaScript disabled, media remains accessible through stacked media and image links. Verify video/3D on your actual devices.

Options and swatches

Option links use Shopify option-value URLs and reload the product’s authoritative price, media, availability and purchase ID. Other selected options are preserved. Plan choice and unsaved quantity/recipient fields can reset on navigation. Enable native swatches only after configuring real option color/image data in Shopify; missing samples remain readable text.

Price, availability and quantity

Selected variant pricing, compare-at and unit pricing use Shopify data. Sold-out purchase buttons are disabled. Quantity inputs and enhancement buttons respect minimum, maximum and increment rules. Quantity guidance and native volume tiers display eligible Shopify data; they do not create a custom discount.

Add to cart and mobile purchase bar

The native form submits the selected variant ID and quantity. Enhanced cart handling reports failures without replaying uncertain requests. The optional mobile purchase bar submits the original form and its validation after the primary button scrolls away. Do not remove the main purchase block.

Subscriptions and accelerated checkout

Selling-plan choices come from variant allocations. Select and apply a plan to update its terms; a required plan prevents one-time purchase. A compatible subscription provider and valid plans are prerequisites. Accelerated checkout uses Shopify’s payment controls and is omitted where recipient/personalization validation requires Add to cart. Place a test order for each purchase option you offer before launching.

Gift cards and personalization

Eligible gift-card products can show recipient fields, message and scheduled delivery. Text personalization uses labeled public line-item properties with required/length rules. Use unique property labels. Verify fulfillment and actual gift delivery; the theme cannot guarantee them.

Inventory, pickup and guides

Inventory notices reflect actual tracked availability and optional incoming data, not artificial scarcity. Pickup requires configured Shopify locations and selected-variant availability. Size/material guides accept reusable pages or inline content, with dialog and no-JavaScript disclosure behavior.

Specifications and recommendations

Product specifications use label/value rows and compatible dynamic sources; empty rows stay hidden. Related/complementary recommendations use Shopify’s service and optional fallbacks. Configure complementary choices in Search & Discovery. Test missing media, empty recommendations and incomplete metafields.

Collections, search and product cards

Use native Shopify catalog and filtering capabilities. Resource availability depends on store configuration.

Collection pages

Set collection media, description, product grid and optional flat collection-navigation menu. Image overrides can support campaigns. Directory pages list collections with pagination. Breadcrumbs link back through the supported hierarchy.

Filtering and sorting

Configure supported storefront filters in Shopify/Search & Discovery. The theme renders the supplied filters, counts, price ranges and active-filter links. Visual color/image filters need native data; text fallback remains available. Test filter URLs, sorting, clear-all and browser Back/Forward on a real catalog.

Search results

The search template preserves the query and presents supported product and non-product results, filtering/sorting where Shopify supplies it, pagination and recovery for empty queries/results. Search indexes and relevance are not created by theme code.

Product cards

Shared cards display responsive media, product names, native money, optional vendor and sale/sold-out badges. Customize supported image fit/ratio, alignment, hover image and spacing settings. Sold-out badges remain visible even when sale badges are disabled.

Quick add

Enable optional quick add in Product cards settings. Eligible simple products can submit one unit directly; products needing choices link to their product page. Keep required app fields and personalization on product pages, and test your actual product configurations.

Product heading hierarchy

Product titles in collection and search results use second-level headings beneath the page title. Cards inside editorial sections use third-level headings beneath section headings. Both use the same visual card styling. Keep meaningful section headings when customizing templates.

Cart and checkout

Configure the shopping bag, optional cart drawer and gift services, then connect your Shopify checkout settings.

Cart page

Use −/+ or type a quantity, then Update cart to refresh totals. Remove deletes a line. Order note opens a disclosure; saved notes remain visible. Lines show supported options, public properties, unit pricing and discounts. Empty carts offer a return to shopping.

Cart drawer

Enable the optional AJAX cart drawer in theme settings. It supports quantity updates, removal, feedback, empty state, focus handling, Escape and scroll lock. Network errors retain recovery paths. Test it with real discounts and app properties before launch.

Gift wrapping

Create and publish a real service/product, then enable Gift wrapping and select it. Eligible simple products add directly; products needing choices link to their product page. Explain per-order/per-item service terms. The theme does not automatically add charges or enforce fulfillment policy. Save cart edits before adding a separate wrap product.

Native fallback

Without JavaScript, native product forms, quantity inputs, cart updates, Remove and checkout navigation remain available. Shopify-hosted checkout requires a supported browser. Test your complete purchase flow after changing cart settings or installing an app.

Hosted checkout

Configure payments, tax, shipping, discounts and order notifications in Shopify and your chosen integrations. Hosted checkout and customer-account screens have their own branding controls. Before launching, place a test order and verify the confirmation, payment status and order details in Shopify Admin.

Pages, footer and customer communication

Theme presentation and Shopify form handling are separate from your policies, legal obligations and fulfillment operations.

Footer

Configure brand description/short SEO copy, menu blocks, social destinations, newsletter and optional localization controls. Keep descriptions useful and accurate rather than repeating keywords. Test all links. The theme has no forced developer-credit or affiliate link.

Pages and contact

Use the standard page template for About, FAQ or service content; use the contact template for Shopify’s native contact form. Native validation and success/error feedback are implemented, but actual mail delivery must be verified in your store.

Blog and articles

Select and populate a blog, add licensed featured images and useful original articles. Templates support pagination, metadata, topic/neighbor navigation and native moderated comments where enabled. Merchant moderation and spam handling remain store responsibilities.

Password, 404 and gift cards

Theme utility templates provide protected-store forms, recovery search and gift-card display/print features. Shopify’s mandatory client-transfer access screen appears before the theme and cannot be restyled by this theme. Preview the theme password template separately after authenticating.

Account and localization

Account links use Shopify’s customer-account experience. English and French interface and editor translations are supplied; translate your product and editorial content separately. Markets and currency formats follow Shopify settings. Review menus, forms and alignment in every language you offer.

Privacy and cookie consent

An optional theme banner records shopper choices through Shopify’s Customer Privacy API. Configure the store’s privacy requirements and integrations before enabling it.

Enable one banner

In Theme settings → Privacy and cookie consent, enable the theme cookie banner and choose all visitors or Shopify-configured consent regions. Use one consent banner at a time; do not leave a competing automatic or app banner active. The theme banner is off by default.

Configure Shopify first

Review Shopify Settings → Customer privacy, required consent regions and your privacy policy. Optional tracking permissions depend on those settings and the visitor’s region. A banner alone does not establish compliance or automatically block arbitrary app/custom scripts; ensure your integrations respect Shopify consent permissions.

Choices and preferences

Accept optional and Reject optional have equal prominence. Shoppers can instead select preferences, analytics and marketing individually. Optional choices start off unless previously granted. Essential store functions remain available. Only an explicit shopper action records a choice; dismissing, scrolling or API failures do not grant consent.

Revisit a choice

A Cookie preferences control appears in the footer when this feature is enabled. It reopens the choices so shoppers can change them. A manually reopened panel supports Escape and returns focus to its opener. The privacy-policy link uses the policy configured in Shopify.

Failures and limitations

If Shopify’s privacy service cannot load or save, the banner keeps the choice open and shows a retry path. It does not store a separate consent cookie or write Shopify cookies directly. Shopify handles its own consent persistence and applicable data-sharing signals. The theme does not change those signals as part of accepting optional cookies.

Preview and languages

Customize the banner heading and description in Theme settings. Buttons and standard descriptions use the storefront language, with English and French supplied. If consent is already recorded, use Cookie preferences to reopen the panel. Without JavaScript, the banner does not appear; your published privacy policy remains accessible through normal footer links.

Apps, privacy and advanced customization

Use native configuration before custom code. Optional capabilities should not become dependencies for basic shopping.

App blocks

Add compatible app blocks in supported Product, Product spotlight or Apps placements. Install and configure the app first. The theme does not bundle rating, subscription or fulfillment services. Test real editor add/remove/reorder behavior and app scripts.

Custom Liquid

Use Custom Liquid sections/blocks for trusted merchant code. Invalid markup or scripts can affect layout, security and performance. Back up the theme before editing and never paste credentials into storefront code.

Safe updates

Duplicate your customized theme and review changes in an unpublished copy. Preserve settings, menus, content and app configuration. Do not overwrite settings_data.json to install a small code fix. Test native purchase, filters, dialogs, app blocks and responsive layout after changes.

Before you publish

Use this checklist when launching your storefront or publishing a major theme update.

Brand and content

Replace sample images and text. Confirm your logo, favicon, colors and typography. Read every core page on mobile and desktop, and give important images useful alternative text.

Products and discovery

Publish the right products and collections to the Online Store channel. Check option names, prices, stock, product photography, filtering, sorting and search. Confirm every menu and promotional link reaches the intended destination.

Purchase flow

Test an available product, a product with options and a sold-out product. Add items to the cart, change quantities, remove a line and check totals. Place a test order using an appropriate Shopify test gateway, then confirm the result in Orders.

Store information

Review contact details, shipping destinations and rates, return terms and policies. Confirm your contact and newsletter workflows and explain any gift services or subscriptions you offer.

Accessibility and devices

Browse with a keyboard and check visible focus, menu operation, dialogs and form labels. Review text at increased zoom and test on the devices and browsers your customers use. Keep text readable over images and maintain contrast when changing colors.

Publish and revisit

Save a backup, preview the final theme and publish from Online Store → Themes when your store is ready. Recheck the public storefront, navigation and purchase flow after publishing. Keep a record of the version and any custom changes.

Troubleshooting and support

Start with the checks below. When contacting support, describe what you expected and what happened instead.

Wrong theme or old icon

Confirm the store and theme ID. Exit a stale preview session or use a private window. Browser favicon caches can outlive a normal refresh. Shopify’s default client-transfer password screen is not proof that the live theme is incorrect.

Blank sections or missing images

Select the required collection, product, blog or media. Check product publication/channel availability and Shopify image processing. Missing optional content can intentionally hide a section. Inspect that section’s controls in the reference below.

Wrong variant or price

Check the selected option/variant, market/currency and selling-plan allocation. Follow native option links and confirm the resulting product URL. Prices and stock belong to Shopify, not theme text settings.

Filter or menu problems

Confirm menu destinations, nested links and the exact parent URL used for menu promotions. Native filters require configured Shopify definitions and eligible catalog data. Check a direct collection URL as well as browser Back and Forward navigation.

Report an issue

Include the theme version, page address, browser and device, steps to reproduce the issue and a screenshot where helpful. Describe recent setting, app or code changes. Remove checkout tokens and personal information from shared URLs and screenshots. Never share passwords, access tokens or payment details.

Updates and ongoing care

Keep a backup of your storefront and review important shopping journeys whenever your theme, apps or catalog change.

Before updating

Duplicate the current theme and record important settings and custom code. Review the update notes supplied with your theme. Use an unpublished copy to check compatibility with your catalog and installed apps.

Review the updated copy

Confirm your header, menus, homepage sections, product options, cart, forms and language settings. Test at mobile and desktop sizes. Keep the current published theme available while reviewing the replacement.

Custom code and apps

Record custom edits and app-specific instructions before updating. Reapply only the changes you still need, and test each one. Avoid copying an older settings file over a newer theme without reviewing its compatibility.

Use documentation supplied with your theme version. Search this handbook for feature names or use the section and settings references below. Keep your own notes about store-specific configuration and customizations.
